Computer question. How to elimiate spam in my regular email”?

Dan M asked:

6 month old computer. Working fine until a few days ago, when I started receiving a lot of email in my normal in box.

Previously, my spam filter put 95% of them in the spam folder, for easy deletion. But now I seem to receive a ton of spam that bypasses my spam folder.

I use Yahoo mail and have a Vista operating system - what to do.

Not computer literate, so lead me by the nose.

This is a multi item answer. 1. We are all plagued by the amount of spam so some of it you will have to deal with. 2. Set up a separate email account that is used for ordering things, signing up for anything on the internet, etc. Once you put your email address in the hands of anyone other than your family and friends, you run the risk of continuing to get more an more spam. It will taper down if you keep reporting it as spam but will never completely go away. A new email for friends and family and you should see spam free inbox.
